Douglas R. Creighton BSc BTh
Douglas joined the ministry team at Cumbrae linked with Largs St John’s on the 1st June and will be with us for 15 months. He is married to Emma and has two children, Harris and Freya, and now lives in Largs.
Having grown up in Inverkip, Douglas moved to Dumfries to take up a teaching position after studying Geography at the University of Glasgow and gaining a PGDE in primary education in 2007.
Feeling the call to enter ministry in the Church of Scotland he was accepted as a Candidate for Ordained Local Ministry in 2012. Promotion to Depute and acting Head Teacher meant a move northwards to Ayrshire and study towards the SQH (Specialist Qualification for Headship). Throughout, he continued studying Theology at Aberdeen to become OLM, but God had other plans.
In 2017 he resigned as Head Teacher following a Call to Full Time Ministry of Word and Sacrament.
Douglas is Divisional Chaplain to Girls’ Brigade and is volunteer coordinator with the Largs Community First Responder Group.
In his leisure time he enjoys family time walking and playing with Broc, the family Spaniel, as well as gardening and reading crime fiction novels.
